The Relationship between Effective Classroom Management and Students’ Academic Achievement

Physics occupy a unique position among the science subjects taught in secondary schools; therefore it is very important to lay very good and solid foundation in the secondary schools. The aim of this study therefore was to examine the relationship between effective classroom management and students’ academic achievement I physics subjects. The study was carried out in ten randomly selected secondary schools in Shomolu local Government Area of Lagos State. The design adopted for the study was a descriptive survey approach. Simple descriptive analysis was used. The major instrument used in this study were student questionnaire, teacher questionnaire and physics achievement test, data were gathered with the research instrument and were analyzed, the research question were investigated and four hypothesis were duly tested using ANOVA and t-test statistics. Based on the findings of this research, it was concluded that effective classroom management skills or techniques have strong and positive influence on student achievement in physics.
